One of the cooler epiphanies from Japanese fandom. The areas where Unit-02 sustained damage in End of Evangelion correspond nicely with the duct-taped injury sites on Asuka’s plugsuit in Q.

Ikuto Yamashita — mecha designer for Neon Genesis Evangelion and Rebuild of Evangelion — tweeted this picture of Mari and Asuka rollerblading on AAA Wunder’s dish antennas. The picture is dated 2010, which is confirmation that Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo was in the planning stages immediately after 2.0, which came out in 2009.
The text on the top reads, “We have nowhere to go on the ship, so we’re always hanging out here. There’s nothing to do, even now.”
